Podcast 1: The Movie Maven Rises (July 27. 2013) The maiden voyage of The Movie Maven podcast commences and I am super stoked. I really wanted to dive into all things cinema. This is an introduction to who I am and what kinds of movies I am into. I have a Twitter account and so many of my tweeps can finally get a chance to get to know who I am. Now others who check this spot out can too.
Podcast 2: The Movie Maven Strikes Back (August 4, 2013) Hubby joins in the fun in talking about some highlights from the San Diego 2013 Comic-Con. This was one of my faves because we talked about all the movies that are hitting theaters and and DVD shelves. Get your ears ready.
Podcast 3: Remakes: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (August 18, 2013) I always wanted to do a podcast about remakes and I finally get a chance to do so. Many people look at remakes as being something of a burden on the senses and in some cases, they are, just like "The Fog" remake which sucked so hard that I almost put my fist through the TV screen. I even had a few tweet peeps chime in about a few of their own remake opinions.
Podcast 4: Happy Birthday Mom (August 25,2013) See this gorgeous lady? She's my mom and this podcast will be all about her and the movies that she loved to watch and shared with me. There will also be other interesting tidbits along with two new segments called "Classic Cuts" and "What's in the Maven's Netflix Queue"? All of this is sure to please and its all on the next Movie Maven.
Podcast 5: (September 1, 2013) Discussing the topic of paranormal movies of way back them and today, Larry and I discuss "Batffleck", a new "Classic Cut" for your ear hole, we take a look at what's in the Maven's Netflix queue, and talk about what movies I have checked out recently. Podcast 6: (September 7,2013) Discussing the topic of some of our favorite creepy kids in horror and paranormal movies. Also, the controversy surrounding children in horror movies and a new classic cut will be traveling to your ear holes. Podcast 7: (September 14, 2013) Continuing the discussion on kids in horror films. Also, a look into movies that have to do with the darkness from within and that's where all the horror resides. There are some amazing movies that makes many of us shriek and we didn't even see a drop of blood. Cinema has so many areas and ways to show horror without a machete or a butcher knife. Also, in the Twitter spot light this week is my good friend Sarah and another classic cut. Stay tuned.
Podcast 8: (September 22, 2013) Zombies, AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! That's right folks the topic of discussion is zombies, the undead, walkers, and where the zombie era is going to take us next. Also it's a double dose of twitter spotlight, a new classic cut, and what's in the Maven Netflix queue. Also, some AMC update that I have noticed about their schedule. Podcast 9: (September 25, 2013) "Hatchet 1-3". This is a special mid-week edition of The Movie Maven and I have to say that there are some gory movies that I enjoy watching multiple times and some that I would only watch once and be done with it. This is one that I watched two times on the same day. In this show I talk about my favorite scenes from "Hatchet 1" to "Hatchet 3" and some of the things that make the movies amazing. Hope you all enjoy this as much as I did.
Podcast 10: (October 1, 2013) "Welcome to October Everyone!!!. This time for an extra special treat, there is a story read by Vincent Price himself all about how to see ghosts starting the show off. This is a special time of year. The time of year where the days are shorter and the chill in the air is from the Fall weather and Halloween is approaching. Enjoy the show. Podcast 12: (October 10, 2013) "I Put a Spell on You": After the season premier of "American Horror Story: Coven" I have plenty to talk about and plenty to say about this bewitching show. The episode of the fourth season of "American Horror Story" was called "Bitchcraft" and it left me completely speechless, to say the least. Podcast 14: (October 27, 2013) "John Carpenter: The Man, The Movies, & The Music": Next week is Halloween and I wanted to do a show that paid tribute to the man who terrified me beyond my wits. I wanted to dedicate this show to John Carpenter. I really am a huge fan of his and I though it would be awesome to share a few stories of why Carpenter is my favorite director, writer and composure. I'm highlighting a few of my favorite movies as well.
Podcast 15: (November 9, 2013) "Serial Killer Movies": This is a show about the dark side of cinema and sadly, or life. Yet peering into the life of a maniac is very intriguing. Movies about serial killers and what drives someone into madness is something that has always interested me. Before I was going to be a teacher I wanted to work as a police officer. I wanted to dive into the gritty streets and see what lurked in the shadows. I am grateful that I chose teaching, however, I am still into learning more about the evil that dwells within some people. This is what this episode is all about.
Podcast 16: (November 14, 2013) "Sandy King Carpenter": Chatting it up with the ever so talented producer, writer and artist Sandy King Carpenter. Also killer car movies and many other surprises. There is a new Twitter Spotlight of the week and she is amazing. Stay tuned.
Podcast 17: (November 23, 2013) "Holiday Horror": How quick was it that the holiday season just sprung on us like this. I enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas, however, I never could get Halloween out of my mind. I'm thinking along the lines of holiday horror movies everyone and I am super excited to share some of my faves with you.
Podcast 18: (December 1, 2013) "TV Gems and More". I'm completely excited about television these days, you've got so many choices and genres as well as amazing characters to choose from. I'm here to help you make decisions as to what you you should watch. Take a listen.
Podcast 19: (December 8, 2013) "Demonic Possession". There are many movies out there about demonic possession and I have a few of my favorites. I will also let you know why these movies, if done right and free of cheese, can absolutely terrifying and could stay with you long after you have hit the stop button. This topic and many others will be discussed on the next Movie Maven.
Podcast 20: (December 15, 2013) "Favorite Opening Scenes". A few of my favorite opening sequences in horror movies that still haunt me to this very day. Those are the ones that have you shudder even if the movie is not playing at that time. Those are the memories that have you thinking that this director is seriously f'd up and it's awesome.
Podcast 21: (January 5, 2014) "The Maven's Year in Review" Now that the hangovers have left the building I have a fresh new show for ya. A show that I am proud of because it's all of my favorite things, people and other types of information that came across our screens in 2013. So while you are practicing writing 2014 on everything, stay tuned in with me and Happy New Year!!!!!
Podcast 22: (January 18, 2014) "Underrated Actresses". I have always wanted to talk about the underrated actresses that make watching movies surprising and fulfilling. These are the shining stars that are out shined by others all the time. I have finally the platform to talk about this topic and many others on this episode of "The Movie Maven".
Podcast 23: (January 16, 2014) "Underrated Actors". Actors who are put on the back burner and the Maven who loves them. I really enjoy all of the actors on my list that I personally created and will always find myself gravitating towards those who are on this list. Their performances are always impressive.
